The Queen presents Irish Guards with new colours

The 1st Battalion Irish Guards have been presented with their new colours by their Colonel-in-Chief, Her Majesty The Queen, who was accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh

The battalion, affectionately known as ‘The Micks’, was inspected by the Queen who then formally presented the new colours and addressed the gathered troops.

The Irish Guards, who are based in Victoria Barracks in Windsor, play a major role in ceremonial duties at Buckingham Palace, St James’s Palace, the Tower of London and Windsor Castle, where they were presented with their new colours.
